Hello first readers and new readers. Welcome to The Dawg Mama. So you're probably wondering what this project is about.
A number of years ago I experienced a health crisis that kept me in bed for what felt like forever. During that time I decided to start caring for dogs as a side hustle. For eight years I learned how to communicate with dogs through body language, mindfulness, and a good old fashioned deep breath. After dozens of loyal and satisfied clients shared with me and other families how much their dogs behavior improved, it became clear I had something more to offer than regular ol' dog training.
This newsletter speaks to my experience with caring for and training dogs. I have no fancy letters behind my name from a privately owned accreditation school. Instead, I was home and needed to keep my mind stimulated and body active, so studying dog communication based on a variety of training methods was perfect for me. This allowed my wife and I to try out a multitude of techniques with the multiple dogs in our care and filter out what didn't work.
The truth is you can get five dog trainers in a room and they'll all agree the other ones are wrong. Like most in the “expert" class, some know what they're talking about and some just wax theoretical. It's best for you the reader to take anything I discuss, from dog care to how awesome the original Star Trek was, with a dose of good humor and a spirit of curiosity.
The style in look for this e-space is light and bright with a touch of Gen X hip-hop flair. My style of speech is at times inspirational or irreverent. If you're offended fairly often, this probably isn't the newsletter for you. I'm not here to please mobs. For more on this see the About page and scroll down to the Dawg Mama Ethics section.
I usually post about every month but strive to post more often. To make sure you never miss a newsletter, subscribe and you'll receive each post in your email (make sure to check your spam folder if you don't receive updates).
Thanks for checking out The Dawg Mama. If you haven't subscribed, you can do so now. And hey, feel free to share it with dog lovers too!
